shit... so busy at work, there's been no time to lay down electrons about the light and heat in the middle east, and the sweat in nyc; by i'm back to make a few snap judgements, and recommend a few books. The first, and most hinky thing that Hinky has ever written follows: The war in Iraq has come to this: black market oil has been taken off the market, like the capping of oil wells in America. The history of oil tells us that wild cats mean trouble for the smooth fuctioning of the market for energy, and for the earnings per share for oil companies. It on dawned Hinky when the radio reported that the oil producing assets of Iraq had been stolen, or otherwise put out of service, setting back their attempts to sell oil for developement there. The black market for oil keeps it cheap, under 25 dollars per barrel. Without Iraq, Nigeria, Venezuala and maybe Columbia (all hot spots) dumping oil on the market, maybe Russia can sell its oil at a price that would gather it something more than the grapes of wrath. Higher oil prices benefit Russia and Saudi Arabia, two broke assed countries that need bail outs more than most-- but not as much as Haiti despite its jackass president who is trying enrich himself with telecom deals with Bill Clinton.

The recommended books: John Adam's by David McCullough is outstanding, as was the man with the conscience of the American revolution; and the other was Wild Bill: The Legend and Life of William O. Douglas by Bruce Allen Murphy, another true story about one smooth operator who cleaned up Wall Street after hinky Joe Kennedy, Sr. the first time around, and the one of the clearest voices for Privacy rights to ever sit on the Supreme court. Great reads, but if you have a date to go to the beach, do that instead.
