Hinky discovered something very very hinky today, at blogdex. It seems a Brazilian has been blogging under the Hinky flag since for some time now, posting Portugese poetry, observation and what have you at hinky.blogger.com.br. We translated a many of the postings there, and concluded, perhaps wrongly, that the Brazilian Hinky is not pulling his or her weight.
And so, we wrote the Brazilian Hinky a strongly worded email, requesting that he or she shape up, and start using the Brazilian hinky domain in a more constructive way. We explained that "hinky" is also a verb, which Hinky, NYC reader know quite well, as we serve up some of the hinky things we see as often as we can. For instance, it is not hinky that I can't sleep because I am thinking about bombs in the middle east, or the price of oil, or the german bankers who lease Iraq's oil fields, or Columbian drug runners, or topless dancers on my television. In fact, sleeplessness as a result of these or some other real world considerations is not a hinky state. In fact, sleeping well in spite of real world considerations is more hinky than not sleeping.
Mumbling, writing, drawing or singing disturbing things about these things is also not hinky; not even close. Mumbling, writing, drawing, singing, crying, drinking, smoking, taking drugs, overeating, masterbating, having protracted sexual episodes (even odd sexual episodes involving hinky places on the body), are not hinky. These things are to be expected.. And so, to review: it is not the known knowns, known unkowns, or the our reactions to known knowns, or known unknowns that are hinky.
It's the unkown knowns, and G_d Damned unkown unkowns that are hinky; and when you seem them, whether you are running a hinky domain, or not, you should point them out. Oh, and weapons mass distruction are not hinky either, even if you do not count all the bug spray (enough to kill every bug on earth) and fertilizer found in Iraq (a dessert).
What is hinky today, apart from this Brazilian hinky who is weeping in Portugese all over the internet? The fact that Eliot "too little, too late" Spitzer is trying make headlines by attempting to take back Richard Grasso's gigantic pay package years after he cut a deal. That is just not NYSE.
